Berlin Kobra Ladies
The Berlin Kobra Ladies are the figurehead of German female football.
The team was founded in 2005 as a successor of the Berlin Adler Girls under the umbrella of the Berlin Kobras in the ProSport24 e.V. (ProSport24 registered association) in Berlin-Wilmersdorf and was able to achieve the titel „German Champion“ seven times since then (2007-2013). The 40 ladies aged between 17 and 35 are training with their seven trainers up to three times a week for their self-defined goal – becoming German Champion.
Despite football formally being known as a typical male sport, female football has evolved very quickly in Germany and is becoming increasingly popular. Female teams are springing up like mushrooms and the female players are not only competing against each other in the federal league but also in the selection procedure for the German national team. Berlin Kobra Ladies always provide a large part of the national team.
The Berlin Kobra Ladies also focus on effective promotion of young talents. The goal is to provide a basis for the young girls and women, who – until the age of sixteen – are still allowed to play in mixed teams with boys the same age in different junior teams of associations in Berlin and to further support these girls in their athletic development and social competence. Team spirit, leadership, reliability, honesty and discipline are the values conveyed by this team.
In 2014 again, the Berlin Kobra Ladies are the „team to beat“ and we wish the ladies much success on their way to what hopefully will be the „German Champion“ title for the 8th time in a row.
